Al-Adalah: Jurnal Hukum dan Politik Islam is an international, peer-reviewed journal focusing on contemporary transformations in Indonesian law at the intersection of constitutional governance, public policy, Islamic law, and socio-legal studies. The journal serves as a scholarly bridge between Indonesian legal developments and wider regional and international debates.

The journal publishes original research that explains, analyses, or compares how law operates within Indonesia's changing political, social, religious, and institutional contexts. Priority is given to studies that make a clear contribution beyond the description of domestic statutes, judicial decisions, or local practices and that demonstrate their relevance to broader legal scholarship.

The journal's principal areas of interest are:

1. Constitutionalism, democratic governance, public institutions, judicial politics, regulatory reform, and public accountability in Indonesia;
2. Islamic law, legal pluralism, and the relationships among the state, religion, and society;
3. Empirical and socio-legal studies of law, including access to justice, human rights, legal implementation, public policy, and institutional practice; and
4. Comparative, regional, or transnational legal studies that include Indonesia or connect Indonesian experience with developments in Southeast Asia and other jurisdictions.

Al-Adalah prioritizes empirical, socio-legal, and comparative research supported by clear methods and relevant evidence. Doctrinal legal research is considered when it presents an original theoretical, conceptual, or interpretive contribution and explains the significance of its argument for regional or international scholarship.

Manuscripts that merely summarize legislation, reproduce normative provisions, discuss a highly local issue without wider scholarly significance, or fall outside the journal's defined intellectual focus will not be considered. All submissions must engage with relevant international literature and clearly state their originality, scholarly contribution, and relevance to the journal's international readership.
